The Experiences of Nurses in Emergency Situation(Respiration Arrest, Cardiac Arrest)

Abstract
As a member of medical circle, I think that the meaning of emergency situation would be possibly different to nurses because stress-related nurse¡¯s works, such as emergency situation and the critical condition of patient give much burden to the nurses. From nurses¡¯ point of view, however, the reality is that the studies on emergency situation is short. This study is designed to provide demonstrative information for understanding nurses¡¯ emergency situation by identifying the meaning of nurses¡¯ experience with emergency situation experiences from nurses¡¯ viewpoint. The study is designed to understand and explore the essence of emergency situation(respiration arrest and cardiac arrest) by identifying the meaning of emergency situation to nurses. The study is a gualitative study using a phenomenological approach in order to identify the essence of nurses¡¯ experience with emergency situation and to understand the structure of their vital experience. Data were analyzed according to Colaizzi(1978)¡¯s method. The essence of nurses¡¯ experience with emergency situation was identified by constructing the 15 collections of theme into 9 categories: ¡°perplexed¡±, ¡°ambivalence¡±, ¡°sense of mission¡±, ¡°skiepiticism¡±, ¡°burden¡±, ¡°expectation¡±, ¡°get away¡±, ¡°prepare the next¡±, ¡°recognizing anew of the meaning of life¡±.
